THE BISHOP'S LITURGY
for Catechesis and the Encouragement
of our lives as Christians

May 2, 2004
The Reverand Carol S. Hendrix, Bishop
Lower Susquehanna Synod, Presiding

[B] There is one body and one Spirit.
[C] One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all.
[B] Baptized into Christ,
[C] We are clothed with Christ.
[B] You are no longer strangers.
[C] We are members of the household of God,
[B] built upon the foundation of the apostles and the prophets,
[C] with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.
[B] In Him the church is joined together,
[C] a holy temple in the Lord;
[B] in whom you are also built together spiritually,
[C] into a dwelling place for God.
[B] We journey as disciples of Christ,
[C] walking in the light of the Lord.

APOSTLES' CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen

SOLEMN BLESSING
Let us bow our heads and hear God's blessing.
"I am the resurrection and the life," says the Lord.
May Christ's rising lift your spirits and gladden your hearts.
"All those who believe in Christ will never perish."
May you pass with Christ from death to life.
Christ has gone to prepare a place for us.
May his resurrection bring you all joy and peace in believing,
so that you may abound in hope.
Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, bless
you now and forever.
Amen.
Go in peace. Serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
